The Peoria Park District chose to renovate the existing bathhouse (originally designed by Kenyon & Associates in 1956) and replace the existing Olympic-size swimming pool with a water park.
The bathhouse renovation included construction of ADA restrooms and lifeguard staff lounge, a central entry control point, aluminum window and door replacement, and interior and exterior painting.
Water park construction included dual water slides, various water structures, children’s play sand areas, wading pool, swimming/lap pool, and free-standing concession building.
This project was designed by our offices and programmed around the requirements of a community recreational facility as outlined by the City of Hennepin. The major areas of the building consisted of a pool, locker and shower rooms, and an administrative wing. Also included were future plans for tennis courts.
